FAQ’s
This page will be dedicated to some of the most common questions I am asked as a photographer. If you have a question and don’t see it here, please feel free to contact me and I will post your question and my answer to this page for others to see and learn from.
Q–Do you get paid to photograph horse shows or events?
A–NO. Sadly, 9 to 10, of 10 show/event photographer do NOT get paid to photograph horse shows or events. These are done on Speculation, meaning you shoot the show and hope you get orders from it. Sometimes this pays off, sometimes it does not. It’s great if you can at least get the show/event organization to pay for your expenses, like gas, food & hotel, if it’s a distant show, where you have to stay over night, but that is NOT always the case.
If anyone has more questions about shooting horse shows or events, just contact me.
Q–What is a Model Release?
A–A Model Release is a form that photographers may ask you to sign. Model Releases give the photographer permission to use an image they took of you for their own business purposes. Examples would be: Using the image for advertising on their website, in flyer’s, brochures, etc. Using the image as a stock image, for magazines, calendars, etc.
Q–Is it OK for me to scan a photo I bought from you and make copies of it or use it to advertise my horse for sale?
A–When someone acquires an image, or additional copies of images, without purchasing them or without the permission of the photographer, they are actually breaking the law. It is against the US Copyright Law to acquire and/or use an image that you have not paid for or do not have permission from the photographer to print or use in any manner.
